On December 30th, I had the sweetest opportunity to end the year with an extended family session in Wimberley, Texas and honestly what a perfect way to close out 2025. Wimberley is one of those places that instantly makes you slow down. With trees everywhere and that quiet small town charm, there were moments I genuinely felt like I was back in Arkansas instead of Texas. It was the ideal backdrop for a session centered on connection, legacy, and family.
The Depperschmidt family gathered together on a cooler day compared to the ones prior, but we all mustard through it. Layers and love always help. And let me tell you, this family made it easy. From the laughter to the natural way they leaned into one another, the love between them was undeniable. What made this session extra special for me is how much they reminded me of my own family. Parents with four daughters, all grown and building lives of their own, yet still so deeply connected. What’s even more wild is that we are all around the same age, which made the experience feel even more full circle and relatable.
This year, their family grew in the most beautiful way as they welcomed two new little ones, and seeing those babies surrounded by so many loving arms was such a gift. There is something incredibly powerful about documenting a season like this where generations come together, milestones are quietly unfolding, and memories are being made without anyone realizing just how meaningful they are in the moment. Extended family sessions like this are a reminder of why photos matter. They freeze time, even just for a second. Years from now, these images will not just show what everyone looked like. They will bring back how this season felt.
